How do I know this rudraksha is real and not a fake?

A genuine rudraksha has mukhi lines that run unbroken from the top hole to the bottom hole. They are never perfectly even, never moulded-looking, and the surface between them is uneven the way a seed is. Every bead we stock is checked by hand against exactly that before it is allowed into inventory.We will also tell you what does not prove anything, because you will see these tests online: a real bead does not reliably sink in water, it does not have to spin between two coins, and heating it proves nothing except that you have damaged it. Is this Nepali or Indonesian rudraksha, and does it matter?

Both are genuine Elaeocarpus ganitrus. Neither is fake.Nepali beads are larger, heavier and have deeper, more clearly separated mukhi lines, which is why they cost more. Indonesian beads, often called Java, are smaller and much more affordable, and are the sensible choice for a mala where you need 108 matched beads.We name the origin on every product page. If a seller will not tell you which one you are buying, that is the thing to worry about, not the origin itself.

Which mukhi should I wear?

As a general guide: 5 mukhi is the everyday bead most people start with and the one traditionally considered suitable for anyone. 4 mukhi is associated with study, focus and clear speech. 6 mukhi with confidence and expression. 7 mukhi with Lakshmi and steady finances. Ganesh mukhi with clearing obstacles before something new.You do not need to get this perfect. Has it been energised, and do I need to do anything myself?

Yes. Pran pratishtha is performed with the mantra for that specific mukhi before your bead is packed, on your bead rather than in bulk beforehand.You do not have to perform any ritual yourself. If you would like to, the traditional practice is to wear it for the first time on a Monday morning after a bath, chanting the bead's mantra 9 or 11 times. Simple instructions come in the box.

How do I wear it and look after it?

Wear it against the skin. Take it off before swimming, before a heavy soap or shampoo wash, and before applying perfume or chemicals directly on it.Every few weeks, wipe it and put a drop of mustard or olive oil on the beads. Rudraksha darkens with wear and with your own skin oils. That is the bead ageing normally, not a defect, and older beads are usually prized for it.

When will it reach me, and can I pay on delivery?
